Production
Consume materials and serialized units, roll up production costs, and book finished product stock.

Production
Production runs turn material stock into product stock. Use them when a finished product should inherit the cost of consumed materials, individual serialized units, labor, and overhead.
Create and start a run
- Open Production and use New production run.
- Choose an output product that has Track inventory enabled. Unique products can only be produced one unit at a time.
- Set the output quantity plus optional labor and overhead cost. When the product has a bill of materials, the dialog previews the material requirements scaled by the output quantity, with current stock, shortages, and conflicts with stock reserved by other runs.
- Creating the run copies the product's current bill of materials into a plan scaled by the output quantity. Later product changes do not change that snapshot; use Apply from BOM on the plan card to explicitly replace it.
- The run starts as Draft; use Start to move it to In progress.
- The list can be filtered by status: Draft, In progress, Completed, and Cancelled.
Plan and consume components
- The Plan & availability card compares Required, Consumed, In stock, and Missing for each planned material. Each row carries a colored status: a green check when stock covers the demand, a red warning when quantities are missing, and an amber warning when stock only suffices by dipping into quantities other running productions have planned ("… reserved by other running productions").
- For missing quantities with purchasing data, a shopping hint suggests what to order — for example "Order: 1 × Palette from HouseWorks".
- Remaining requirements in other In progress runs count as soft reservations. They produce warnings but do not lock stock or block another withdrawal.
- Add or remove planned materials with Add line and Remove line while the run is open. Use Consume on one row or Consume all remaining to book each remaining planned quantity at the material's current moving-average cost.
- You can also add an unplanned bulk consumption with Add bulk material by selecting the material, quantity, unit cost, and consumption date. If no unit cost is entered, Einblick uses the material's current moving-average cost when available.
- Use Add serialized unit when the component is an identified single piece. Consuming the unit marks it as consumed and creates an outbound material transaction linked to the run.
- Consumption rows can be removed while the run is a draft or in progress. Removing one deletes its transaction and returns a consumed serialized unit to stock.
- Component cost, labor, overhead, total cost, and cost per output unit are recalculated from the current consumption ledger.
When Allow negative material balance is disabled in Workspace Settings → General, planned and manual consumption is rejected if it would push a material below zero — including the remaining quantities booked when completing a run.
Complete, cancel, or delete
- Complete lists any planned quantities that are still unconsumed under "Will be consumed on completion". The Consume remaining planned quantities checkbox is on by default, so Einblick books those quantities before posting the output; clear it to finish with only the consumption already recorded.
- Complete and stock in posts the output quantity into product inventory as a stock-in movement linked to the production run. The movement carries the run's final total cost, so the product's average unit cost and inventory value update from the run cost.
- If the product has no cost price yet, completion sets it from total run cost divided by output quantity.
- Completed runs cannot be edited or deleted.
- A run can be cancelled or deleted only before completion and only after all component consumption lines have been removed.
Accounting behavior
- Material consumption and product output are normal inventory movements with production source links.
- When the material or product uses the Inventory asset valuation policy, costed movements create inventory journal entries. Production consumption uses the production offset or cost account, and product output books finished-goods inventory against the production offset.
- Production run lifecycle changes are recorded in Workspace activity.
