Tools

Tools represent hand tools, portable powered tools, and smaller equipment items in your inventory. Categorize tools, track their condition, and manage availability for field teams.

Create and manage tools

  • Tool lists, search results, and detail views only include records your role can read. Creating, editing, archiving, and deleting tools follow the matching tools role actions and any conditional record rules on the role.
  • Navigate to Tools and click Add tool to create a new tool record.
  • Enter tool details: name, manufacturer, model, and category.
  • Categorize tools: hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, measuring tools, safety equipment, or other.
  • Set initial condition rating and status to reflect current state.

Tool categories

  • Hand Tools: Non-powered tools like hammers, wrenches, screwdrivers.
  • Power Tools: Portable electric tools like drills, saws, sanders.
  • Pneumatic Tools: Air-powered tools like nail guns, impact wrenches.
  • Measuring Tools: Rulers, levels, laser measures, etc.
  • Safety Equipment: Hard hats, safety glasses, protective gear.
  • Other: Tools that don't fit into standard categories.

Track condition

  • Monitor tool condition: excellent, good, fair, poor, broken, or missing.
  • Update condition ratings after use or inspection.
  • Filter tools by condition to identify items needing repair or replacement.
  • Set tool status: available, in use, maintenance, or unavailable.

Inventory management

  • Track tool availability to ensure field teams have what they need.
  • Assign tools to projects or work orders to reserve them.
  • View tool assignments to understand utilization and prevent conflicts.

Maintenance and replacement

  • Link tools to maintenance tasks for repair work.
  • Track which tools are frequently broken or missing to identify replacement needs.
  • Use condition ratings to plan tool replacement budgets.
